Rishi Janakiraman is a sophomore at Stanford OHS, and this is his third year at the Observer. He is an award-winning author of prose and poetry, both a national Scholastic gold medalist and a Foyle Young Poet of the Year. His writing—creative or journalistic—seeks to humanize, letting dialogue take the foreground while his prose frames the subjects. He aims to feature narratives of migrant identity, sensitivity, and unseen & unmistakable beauty, all while melding the literary with the journalistic. Outside of writing, Rishi can be found reading his favorite philosophers, mostly French postmodernists. He loves a good cup of chai.
