Maya is a full-time sophomore at OHS, in her first year at this school and on the Observer. Journalism being a new venture for her, Maya has always been very fond of writing and works on creating poems and short stories as a part of the Duke of Edinburgh program she participates in outside of OHS. Maya tutors international students English and co-leads a project that aims to provide shelter and food for stray cats within her neighborhood in Istanbul. Apart from writing, Maya loves photography, dance, tennis and playing the guitar. She avidly enjoys reading and is interested in biology, history and economics.
